Purpose of the post

The ICRC MoveAbility Foundation was created by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in 1983 to ensure the continuity of former ICRC programmes for populations affected by conflict, and support other physical rehabilitation centres in less-resourced countries. The MoveAbility’s activities are not included in the ICRC budget and are funded independently, the ICRC however provides MoveAbility with substantial logistical and administrative support. MoveAbility relies exclusively on voluntary contributions to cover its costs both in the field and at headquarters. Its donor base consists of governments, National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, foundations and private donors. The average yearly budget in the past 5 years amounted to 5.5 million CHF.

The partnership & fundraising manager is responsible to develop and maintain long term partnerships with external stakeholders to secure multi-year quality funding and resources to cover the expenditures
Main duties and responsibilities

Fundraising and Partnerships
Develop and implement the fundraising strategy and plan of action according to the business plan
Manage relationships with donors, and ICRC Resource Mobilization Division
Manage partnerships with National Societies and other stakeholders
Identify new funding sources from institutional and private sector in Switzerland and abroad
Explore and develop innovative fundraising
Participate in fundraising communication activities
Support field offices in defining and implement local fundraising
Responsible for DRM (donors database)

Proposals and Reporting
Prepare appeals and ad hoc funding proposals
Participate in follow up of indicators
Participate in the production of standard reporting
Prepare ad hoc reporting to donors
Participate in the development of and innovative reporting and monitoring tools
Produce financial income forecasts and presentation to the MoveAbility board

Executive Team
Participate in operational planning and budgeting
Relationship with MoveAbility regional managers
Verify the conformity of expenditures to the pledges made to donors
Participate in the analysis of potential new projects
Education and experience required

Fundraising background, university or equivalent
5 years’ experience in resource mobilization within an international humanitarian or development environment, an NGO or the ICRC
Excellent written communication skills with ability to produce quality grant request in English. Any additional language such as German, Italian or Spanish is an advantage
Awareness in development agencies trends and goals
Familiar with project management tools (logframe, monitoring), impact indicators, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation
Desired profile and skills

Ability to network extensively among the international community and donor group; good presentation, comfortable with all ranges of interlocutors
Budgeting and controlling experience
Ability to negotiate skillfully
Strong research skills and attention to detail: sourcing information and statistics, researching trends, assessing costs
Experience in Communication strategy and communication tools
Capacity to work successfully in a small group and promote teamwork
