The Middle Office (MO) team within Controller’s, calculates Bank’s swap and derivative exposures on a daily basis (up to USD 3 billion) and investigates portfolio disputes by interacting with global investment banks to resolve valuation differences.

The Associate  provides subject matter expertise (SME) on at least one of the below specific work streams of the Team :
  • Credit exposure/collateral management of the Bank’s swaps/derivatives portfolios which is responsible for mitigating counterparty credit risk the Bank has with most of the global investment banks and smaller counterparties from the countries of operation;
  • Market data management of the Bank’s systems supporting Treasury and Banking transactions for valuation and risk management purposes;
  • Trade capture of all complex Treasury/Banking transactions to ensure the integrity of Bank’s trading positions.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • The Associate is accountable for the Bank’s swap and derivatives exposure and collateral management and issues daily/monthly reports to Treasury and Risk Senior Management.
  • The Associate is responsible for the IT development and upgrades of the in-house collateral management system to ensure the Bank follows best market practices according to the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA).
  • The Associate is responsible for the accurate representation throughout their life-cycle of all Treasury and some banking transactions in the Bank’s valuation systems (Summit/NumeriX) which have critical importance for fixed income and equity valuations, settlement and risk-monitoring systems, and support the revenue generation process.
  • Responsible for development and maintenance of complex Market Data Repository (MDR) system together with Treasury Analytics. The system is a “router” of market data to all systems requiring such information, and is also used to derive complex formulae for pricing of structured financial products. The Associate is responsible for daily maintenance of the production environment and the data within the system to ensure compliance with the Bank’s procedures.
  • The Associate works closely with Accounting, Treasury, Risk Management and Operations teams to provide analytical and technical support to advise on Treasury, daily P&L, individual trade valuation issues (fixed income derivative and listed equity portfolios).
  • Proposes innovative solutions to problems and initiates projects that would lead to more streamlined processes for other teams.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Mathematics, finance or science-based  degree from highly-regarded university
  • Further education desired but not necessary (CFA, ACT,CertFMM Prmia)
  • Fluent English language skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong knowledge of derivatives, fixed income and FX markets
  • Experience of “front office” valuation systems especially Summit (FT), NumeriX, Quic, etc.
  • Proficiency with a range of market data vendor systems such as Bloomberg / Reuters etc.
  • Aptitude to deal with various IT technologies, basic knowledge of SQL / VBA.
