The internship will primarily focus on: preparing and handling logistics of HRW’s major fundraising and outreach events; drafting acknowledgment letters and correspondence; coordinating donor communication; donor engagement; database management; and researching development and outreach projects. The intern will be an active member of HRW's Development and Outreach department, interning closely with other staff members to identify and create opportunities for donor involvement in HRW by keeping existing and prospective supporters informed of our work. 

This internship is best suited for individuals interested in gaining experience in a large, well-organized, international non-profit organization. Interns will build skills in research, database management, event management, fundraising, as well as gain knowledge on the organization's priority human rights issues. Interns may attend planning and department meetings with staff and may have the opportunity to take advantage of in-house trainings and briefings.


Strong oral and written communication skills in both French and English are required. Computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, internet applications) are also required. The ideal candidate should hold at least a Bachelor's degree. Applicants should have previous event experience and/or should be willing to learn new skills through organizing a major fundraising event. The ideal candidate should be a disciplined self-starter and strong team player. Applicants should have a demonstrated commitment to human rights and/or international issues.
