Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the operation leader or a more senior banker:

Structuring and Execution
  • Participate in negotiations with clients
  • As designated, handle technical issues escalated from junior levels through to resolution with the assistance of appropriate specialist advisors/partners and more senior colleagues.
  • Contribute to client relationship management throughout the life cycle of the project
  • Review the background and profile of the prospective clients to determine the suitability for the Bank’s financing.
  • Work as a project team member on transactions, contributing to all aspects of project
  • structuring and execution, including comprehensive research and analysis of background materials, market information and financial performance data; analyse and evaluate potential risks related to the proposed project, including analysis of financial statements, preparing and updating financial models/projections and working with client counterparts, consultants and other parties to progress the project
  • Prepare internal project documentation, including financial models and drafts of approval project memoranda, term sheets, presentations, etc. as and when required;
  • As may be requested, assist with communication with other internal units of the Bank, clients and other stakeholders, at the operational level, such as preparing draft correspondence, presentations, and following up on internal emails;
  • Ensure that all tasks are completed within the specified time frames to a high standard and in line with the policies, procedures and objectives of the Bank. 

Portfolio Monitoring, Value Creation and Reporting
  • Take responsibility for the implementation and monitoring of ENEF projects to which the Associate Banker is assigned, including compliance with project agreements and Bank procedures related to disbursement; monitoring of progress of the project implementation and financial performance of the client; assessing evolving risk factors and monitoring and assessing covenant compliance.
  • Meet regularly with ENEF portfolio companies and, if required, represents the Bank in the investees’ company Board of Directors.
  • Prepare timely and comprehensive monitoring reports and include recommendations for corrective actions where required and ensure these proposed corrective actions and recommendations are brought to the attention of more senior team members and management.
  • As a project team member perform all such tasks as may be assigned by the operation leader and provide constructive advice, guidance and supervision to more junior members of the project team.
  • Business Development and Origination will be a key focus of the Associate Banker,  with specific targets and objectives on the number of quality leads and targets to maintain a steady flow of ENEF pipeline of projects.. The activity will involve extensive travelling within the assigned country and the ENEF region.
  • Actively participate, and as designated, lead activities promoting the ENEF, nd leveraging on his/her existing business contacts and establishing new ones.
  • The Associate Banker  will be advising bankers and SBI F&D management on quality of leads,  their suitability to ENEF investment policies and requirements, on the basis of sound banking and investment.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in the areas of expertise.
  • Professional qualification such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA desirable.
  • Strong quantitative/numerical skills are critical with the ability to interpret financial information and to design and use financial models.
  • Credit analysis skills, with the ability to interpret accounts, understanding local and international accounting principles and practice of credit analysis.
  • Computer literacy, conversant with Microsoft Office and spread sheet packages including financial analysis and modelling modules.
  • Excellent understanding of relevant systems and processes.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and to deadlines and under time pressure.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Good command over the local/country language is an advantage.

Experience & Knowledge:
  • Experience in banking and finance, private equity, financial advisory services in reputable and leading firms or International Finance Institutions.
  • Prior relevant experience and knowledge of the local business environment, particularly the SME sector.
  • Proven networking abilities in the local business communities. Deep understanding and knowledge of business practices, key industry sectors, including the ENEF region’s financial sector.
  • Practical experience of participating in transactions through the full project life cycle.
  • Exposure to industry/country experience particularly SME in the Western Balkans and Croatia
