The International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance — International IDEA is an intergovernmental organization that supports sustainable democracy worldwide. International IDEA’s mission is to support sustainable democratic change by providing comparative knowledge, and assisting in democratic reform, and influencing policies and politics.
International IDEA acts as a catalyst for democracy building; by providing knowledge resources, policy proposals and supporting democratic reforms in response to specific national requests. It works together with policy makers, governments, UN organizations and agencies and regional organizations engaged in the field of democracy building.
International IDEA develops, shares and enables the use of comparative knowledge in its key areas of expertise: electoral processes,constitution building,political participation and representation, democracy and development and democracy assessments. It also addresses the important issues of gender, diversity, and conflict and security as they relate to democracy.
International IDEA is based in Stockholm, Sweden, and works worldwide through offices in New York, Brussels, The Hague, Latin America, Africa and Asia.

Context
- To provide IT technical support to International IDEA, both in headquarters and regional offices.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Test and evaluate existing network systems; Troubleshoot local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and internet based systems;
- Perform technical research on technical issues, confer with users, and conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems and to provide technical assistance and support;
- Support development and implementation of new computer projects and supervise contract based installations;
- Confer with staff to establish requirements for new desktop tools or modifications;
- Prepare evaluations of software or hardware and recommend improvements or upgrades; Assist with the installation of new hardware as required for new users or network/system upgrades;
- Assist with the development of training materials and procedures and/or train users in the correct use of hardware and software; Assist with the creation and maintenance of documentation relating to ICT services and procedures;
- Refer major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service;
- Maintain the ICT asset register, ensure all assets are tagged and accurately recorded; Facilitate receipt or discarding of ICT hardware; Help maintain necessary stock levels of standby computers, phones and accessories; Help maintain an orderly ICT storage room;
- Liaise with service providers and local IT service providers at regional offices to provide support to end users on computer operations and communication tools; Monitor the status of service requests to ensure timely response times;
- Provide IT and Logistics support to key events; Assist in conferencing services on audio, video conferencing, and data services;
- Perform office administration including processing of invoices preparing contractual arrangements with external partners.

Reporting Line
Functional Knowledge
- Experienced in supporting desktop software’s and tools and managing a windows-network environment;
- Supports computer-networked environments, cloud applications e.g. Office 365 and cloud-based communication tools e.g. Bluejeans;
- Good knowledge of remote management and deployment tools e.g. WSUS, SCCM;
- Familiar with IT inventory management and escalation procedures for branded hardware with hardware vendors;
- Experience in supporting mobile devices and applications for different platforms;
- Ability to undertake administrative processes e.g. procurement and invoice processing, Monitor contracts and ensuring adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLA’s).
Education and Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar role;
- University degree in IT, Computer Science, Business Studies or similar;
- Experience of working in an international context, e.g. in an intergovernmental organization, considered an advantage.
Terms Of Contract
- Local Post, Two (2) year appointment. Salary SEK 31 825 per month.
Please note as this is a local post, International IDEA will bear no costs relating to relocation of the selected candidate to the duty station. This position is open to those legally authorized to live and work in Sweden.
